Rezoning Between Worthington & Dandridge

For those of you that are not aware, a rezoning is being sought for a portion of land within the Bent Creek Community. Below are some points on the rezoning:

  • The parcel of land lies South of Worthington, North of Travertine and West of Creedmoor in Dandridge (Map Below)
  • The area is currently zoned RE – Residential Estates (1/2 Acre lots)
  • They are seeking to rezone to R-1 Low Density Single Family Homes (10,000 Sq Ft lots)
  • Worthington & Dandridge will be connect by at least one road.


Dennis Pierce presented 2 options to the location of the road that will connect Travertine to HWY 24. Supporting documents for these are above.

Option 1: If Area remains zoned as Residential Estate, the road will connect Worthington directly to Travertine.

Option 2: If Area is rezoned to R-1, the road will not connect Worthington directly to Travertine.

  • 4 of the 6 Commission Members were present
  • Result of the vote was For- 2, Against- 1, Abstain- 1
  • The Commission will send this to the Board of Supervisors with no recommendation. There will be a meeting on May 6th at 9:00 AM with the Board of Supervisors to vote on the rezoning.
  • Dennis Pierce did not present any plan as to what he will build if the rezoning is approved
